Getting Around
Liberec is a compact city, so many places are reachable on foot, but trams and buses are very useful for everyday travel between the dormitories, city centre, and university buildings.
- Use public transport for quick trips across the city
- Buy tickets before boarding whenever possible
- Always keep your ticket with you during the ride
Food & Groceries
You will find supermarkets, small local shops, cafés, and affordable student-friendly restaurants all around Liberec. Cooking at the dormitories is usually the cheapest option.
- Supermarkets are the best choice for daily shopping
- Student canteens can save you money
- It is useful to keep some cash for smaller shops
Money & Payments
The Czech Republic uses Czech crowns (CZK). Card payments are common, but in some smaller places or kiosks, cash may still be useful.
- Check prices in CZK, not in euros
- Card payment is accepted in most shops and cafés
- Keep a small amount of cash for everyday situations
Weather & Clothing
Liberec can be colder, windier, and rainier than many students expect, especially in autumn and winter. Good shoes and warm clothes will make your stay much more comfortable.
- Bring a warm jacket and layers
- Waterproof shoes are highly recommended
- Check the weather before weekend trips
